Q: When are you going to make TxtMan work with the MOL2/MOL3 ROM update?
A: There's nothing I can do about it. It's the OS
that's broken, not TxtMan. We will all just have to wait for Motorola to fix it in the
next ROM update.
Q: I'm not getting new message notifications on my homescreen when I get a new
SMS message.
A: TxtMan isn't currently able to do this. You won't get message notifications
like the built in messaging app gives you, but the program will play a sound, vibrate,
and bring itself to the foreground when a message is received. If the phone's ringer
is off (silent mode) or you are on a call, TxtMan will not make a sound when an
SMS is received. However, it will still vibrate, unless you turn that off in the
options.
Q: Is there a Today Screen plug-in for TxtMan?
A: No. See above.
Q: Does TxtMan work on Windows Mobile 2003?
A: Nope.
Q: TxtMan isn't receiving incoming messages.
A: Try uninstalling and reinstalling TxtMan.
Q: When I start TxtMan, I get an error saying something like "This application
requries the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework".
A: TxtMan requires the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 to be installed on your
phone in order to run. It's free, and many other Windows Mobile programs require
it, so it's a good thing to have. To download it, go here.
Q: Does TxtMan modify or interfere with my Outlook inbox?
A: No. TxtMan has it's own method of storing messages that is completely
separate from any other programs.
Q: I keep getting delivery receipts after I send SMS messages. Can I turn this
off?
A: No. This is a known issue. At this time, I don't know of any way around
it.
Q: Is there a way to backup my SMS threads?
A: Yes. Threads are stored in /Application Data/TxtMan/Folders/Inbox. If
you want to backup your threads, just copy the Inbox folder to your desktop computer.
To restore your backup, copy the Inbox folder back to /Application Data/TxtMan/Folders/Inbox,
overwriting any existing files. The threads are stored as HTML, so you can even
view the threads on your desktop computer using a web browser.
Q: After installing TxtMan, I find that my Motorola Q randomly turns itself
off.
A: This is a known issue with the Motorola Q, and has nothing to do with
TxtMan. See this thread.
Q: I don't like the colors TxtMan uses for the windows and buttons. Can I change
them?
A: Yes. The colors TxtMan uses are determined by the device's currently
selected color scheme. Go to Start Menu > Settings > Home Screen and change
the color scheme. You can create your own color schemes if you want. Check the qusers forum
for help.
Q: My XV6700/PPC-6700 isn't vibrating when I get a new message.
A: This is a known issue. I am trying to find a workaround, but I don't
have a 6700 to test with, so don't hold your breath.
Q: TxtMan crashes when receiving an incoming message, or when starting up. Uninstalling
and reinstalling TxtMan doesn't fix it.
A: This may be due to a corrupted inbox. I refer to TxtMan's own inbox, not
your Pocket Outlook inbox. To solve this problem, delete the contents of the /Application
Data/TxtMan/Folders/Inbox folder. Note that this will delete all your existing SMS
messages (for TxtMan only. does not affect Pocket Outlook). It is not necessary
to uninstall TxtMan.
Q: Why does TxtMan require the .NET Compact Framework 2.0? Why couldn't you
write it in native code?
A: There are advantages and disadvantages to using .NET. One of the main
advantages is rapid application development. This means I can put more features
into TxtMan in the time I have to work on it.
Q: Do you plan to make TxtMan work on Pocket PCs in the future?
A: TxtMan does work on some PPCs. However, I do plan to improve Pocket
PC support in the future.
Q: How can I add new notification sounds to TxtMan?
A: You can copy new wav files to your /Windows folder, and TxtMan will
be able to use them. TxtMan can only use wav files right now. MP3 and midi files
won't work.
